• Homicides this week have increased 250% in L.A. compared to last week, LAPD says
  

  The Los Angeles Police Department announced Tuesday that homicides in the city increased 250% over the previous week, and the number of people who were shot increased by 56% during the same period.

  The increased numbers were recorded during the week of May 31-June 6, but officials also reported continued violence this week.

  “The past 24 hours has seen four shootings, one of those resulting in a homicide,” an LAPD statement said.

  Suspend social order, threaten to defund police, and not surprisingly, the disorder rises. Voters are suicidal lemmings.

• 7 people shot within ten minutes in three separate incidents in Brooklyn
  

  Two men, 27 and 34, were each shot in the leg in the first incident at 10:40 pm in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The shooter fled the scene. Both men were taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

  Five minutes later, a 35-year-old man was shot in the back in Flatbush. The suspect fled the scene. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

  Then three men, 17, 35, and 50, and a woman were gunned down at around 10:50 pm following a dispute in the area of Bristol Street in Brownsville.

  I deeply resented the letter. First of all, what makes an administrator (even a highly paid one, with an exalted title) a “leader” of this university? We, the faculty, are the only “leaders” worthy of mention when it comes to the realm of ideas. Who cares what some paper-pushing apparatchik thinks? It’s all a bit creepy and unsettling. Why must this university’s senior administration declare, on behalf of the institution as a whole and with one voice, that they unanimously—without any subtle differences of emphasis or nuance—interpret contentious current events through a single lens?

  They write sentences such as this: “We have been here before, and in fact have never left.” Really? This is nothing but propaganda. Is it supposed to be self-evident that every death of an “unarmed black man” at the hands of a white person tells the same story? They speak of “deep-rooted systems of oppression; legacies of hate.” No elaboration required here? No specification of where Brown might stand within such a system? No nuance or complexity? Is it obvious that “hate”—as opposed to incompetence, or fear, or cruelty, or poor training, or lack of accountability, or a brutal police culture, or panic, or malfeasance—is what we observed in Minneapolis? We are called upon to “effect change.” Change from what to what, exactly? Evidently, we’re now all charged to promote the policy agenda of the “progressive” wing of American politics. Is this what a university is supposed to be doing?

  Under the Left, everyone must obey the symbolic reality, and keep actual reality far away. It is offensive, sexist, and racist, which are just ways of saying that it is more complex than the simplistic reasoning of the human herd. Democracy — and its more extreme forms socialism, diversity, feminism, and communism — form this herd, make it ignorant, and convince it that its power lies in asserting Leftism. It then destroys everything of value and leaves a ruined third world society, but the bureaucrat-parasites first fly away to Switzerland with suitcases full of cash. For a few billion dollars in bribes (less than the cost of an aircraft carrier) a foreign power can easily destroy an open society.

  Most people do not suffer from this illness; they shrug it off like a normal few.
