I am pleased to inform you that it was Dan Quayle:
From the perspective of many Japanese, the ethnic diversity of our culture is a weakness compared to their homogeneous society. I begged to differ with my host. I explained that our diversity is our strength and I explained that the immigrants who come to our shores have made and continue to make vast contributions to our culture and our economy. It is wrong to imply that the Los Angeles riots were an inevitable outcome of our diversified society.
Conservatives end up carrying water for what they believe is the original American mythos of revolution, but what actually happened was a need for autonomy which then led to an inability to use the previous system of government, which most were otherwise fine with.
The founding American mythos of revolution, not a war for independence, allowed conservatives to lull themselves into accepting democracy, diversity, and Communism as an extension of the original American ideal.
No, this was not a proposition nation; it was an Anglo-Saxon colony. No, it was not based on “an idea,” but the continuation of a principle. No, it was not egalitarian; “all men are created equal” is a limit on equality, not a blank cheque.
And no, they did not like democracy, which is why they created many checks and balances to contain and limit it.
But they would laugh at “diversity is our strength.” Diversity is never our strength; it is simply war of all against all. It is the process of disorder and decay, where each person has their own “truth” and pursues their own agenda. There is no unity or purpose.
Dan Quayle was not as dumb as the Left portrayed him to be, but he was caught between two terrible options. One, he admit that the LA Riots were just diversity failing as usual, and start fixing the real problem, diversity. Two, he praises diversity knowing that it kills us.
Diversity is not our strength. It is not anything but another egalitarian delusion which, like all delusions, seems to be doing okay until it collides with reality, and then cataclysm and piteous weeping follow into a night lit by the fires of anarchy and selfishness.
