All egalitarianism — civil rights, democracy, libertarianism, anarchy, liberalism, welfare — is based on this victim/oppressor dichotomy which is about as real as good/evil. Humans are a superstitious species.

That is how you get a Michelle Wu, Kwame Kilpatrick, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Marion Berry, Letitia James, Bob Menendez, Mario Cuomo, and Joseph O’Biden too.

We can pay extra if they take a Mexican or Chinese under each arm when they go.
