When you are young, they fill your head with superstitious and neurotic projections like good/evil, social approval, and “cool” stuff that is just whatever mass trend benefits industry or government at the time.
Experience teaches that there is a universal constant of competence in thinking, and everyone has some amount of this, but the amounts are not equal and very few have enough to do any sustained thinking, so they avoid any kind of analytical, critical, or structural thought.
If you want to know why you live on Planet Moron, the answer is not as simple as saying that most people are stupid. Rather, most people are deluded into anti-realistic attitudes which limit what they think about to the pointless, making them oblivious and thus, stupefied.
Although it seems trivial to say “people are stupefied not stupid per se,” it makes an important distinction about human survival: systems, ideologies, religions, and social activity can make people go insane, and once that happens, they can no longer notice that they are insane.
This describes most people in the modern world, but we can separate them into two general personality-types:
Forward-looking positive people are rarely “progressive” because “progressives” are oriented toward complaining about the system in the context of past injustices. Creators look at what the system can be, not what it has been, because they know nothing comes from pure origins.
Negative people react strongly to imperfections, exceptions, and minor details that they can blow up into larger issues with tunnel vision. They expect perfection and are always disappointed. Positive people see imperfection as opportunity.
While positive people are not averse to conflict, they have no need for it either, but negative people need conflict to reinforce their worldwide and sense of self-esteem. They thrive on chaos and conflict, passive-aggression and bullying, sabotage and subversion.
They do all of this while insisting that they are Enlightened and bringing us peace. In reality, all pacifism is based on socializing, because social groups emphasize compromise in order to buy loyalty to the group from everyone.
Socializing, by its necessary use of pacifism, enforces mandatory compromise, which means that no coherent thought or plan ever emerges from it. Compromise is a dirty word; if something needs doing, you do it, and turning it into a giveaway corrupts it and your society.
Positive people are not oriented toward compromise. They see that if you want to get something done, ends-over-means is the only coherent model, and it must be considered in a case-by-case basis. They do not mind breaking the rules if and only if the results in reality are better.
Negative people on the other hand view all rules, social mores, hierarchy, standards, culture, and common sense as impositions of arbitrary rules that amount to oppression. How dare the world restrict their individual, beautiful selves?
Positive people are quite simply more concerned with the amazing things that can be created, imposed, analyzed, maintained, nurtured, and produced than they are worried about the disturbing and sad sides of life. Just make better things, they argue.
Negative people — this is most of humanity — focus instead on how bad things are but, in order to make that point, they must posit a Utopia of Progress as an opposite to how things are, which leads them further into ironist contrarian anti-realist thinking.
Society thrives on positive people but, once it gets big enough to have jobs, it needs compliant, compromise-oriented, amiable people who do not have higher standards (since those cause conflict). They want neutered pacifist rule-followers.
Consequently these societies amass huge amounts of negative people and sacrifice the positive ones in order to subsidize the failing negatives. They then live by neurotic projections and symbolic superstitions, since if they look at reality for even an instant they will see that their civilization is failing, not rising at all.
