Anti-Quality

When you think about it, “equality” and “quality” are opposites. If your goal is quality, you cannot compromise on essential parts; if you desire equality, you no longer have an external goal, only a method that you hope will bring an ideal state.

Pacifism, compromise, tolerance, pluralism, and means-over-ends reasoning are the same thing: a desire to avoid having a goal because we are tested by goals, whether we do our part in achieving them or not. This is why men hunt or go to war. They test themselves.

Not having a goal has a high price, which is not achieving anything. This explains the modern job: people show up, do the methods prescribed, socialize a lot, and create almost nothing. They are there for the paycheck and do not mind wasting their lives in attendance.

They are happy because the system is egalitarian. Everyone gets a chance to seize as much as he can, and no one can point out that this is ridiculous because it achieves nothing, so everyone passes around money in pointless economic activity because there is no goal.

Every aspect of this society is anti-quality. To promote equality, it takes half of the production of the nation and throws it into the void, hoping the increased frenetic pointless spending will drive up GDP and therefore, increase tax revenue.

“What is the purpose of our activity?” No one knows or cares. They are entirely atomized, working only for their retirement funds and their hobbies, maybe with some signaling activities like church or Leftist politics, and are unconcerned about what happens to the wider world.

Taxes pass on costs to businesses and individuals, and they in turn pass on those costs to the market. Wonder why prices have been constantly going up since the income tax kicked in during the 1920s? It is a giant circle of people stealing, passing on costs, and then stealing more.

Corners get cut. If suddenly a huge tax and regulatory burden, including the disaster of affirmative action, gets passed on to producers, they either raise costs radically or make the stuff cheaper. This is why your food is toxic and your dishwasher is inefficient junk.

Government figures out that it can subsidize huge chunks of the population by giving them do-nothing jobs. Most jobs are daycare for women and weak men, as well as minorities and political nepotism cases. Who cares if they get done right? There is no goal of production.

There are two really scary aspects to this situation: (1) all empires die this way, regardless of stated ideology, and (2) humans naturally pick this because the majority of people are unable to see past aesthetics and therefore choose what “looks good” over what works.

Communism is popular not because of Communists spreading it, but because most people have no ability to form coherent thoughts about politics or economics. They simply lack the wiring. It is like asking monkeys to build spacecraft.

Democracy happens when the bickering gets too much for people to have a goal, so they shrug, feel self-pity and ressentiment, and say, “OK, we’ll take a vote.” No goal survives; everything is compromise. But the paychecks keep flowing and so this warning signal is ignored.

To keep quality in a society, you must have a goal: culture, genetics, mental state, wisdom. Goals are end-states, not methods. A goal involves setting up a cycle that works to perpetuate what benefits civilization, not an endless symbolic pursuit like “equality.”

At the end of a cycle, we are learning this again. The few who can create set up something good, and then others arrive and drown it with their needs. They “contribute” by doing what they are told but do not help achieve a goal, so society breaks down into atomized individuals.

The future society will not be cruel, but it will not believe in charity, either. It will reward those who contribute toward the goal and ignore the others which it will consider to be genetic mental defectives who belong elsewhere.

Once you go down the path of compromise, you end up at something like the socialist political machine: everyone has equality, but to get anywhere, you need a lot more, so only those who are willing to scam their way to the top get ahead.

This is the nature of Systems, and of the thinking of most humans. Again the tragedy of democracy is that it is the 51% of those who show up making decisions that 0.1% of the population understand.

You cannot fix this with education or better symbolism. People understand, or they do not. The Bell Curve rules us all. When society is staffed by creators, understanding is common; when everyone else shows up, understanding is rare and marginalized.

This is how you end up in an anti-quality equality regime like all current human societies. In order to please the many, they deny the wisdom of the few, and as a result, end up shuffling money around and waiting for the end.
