The good leader

The good leader is one who has discovered the tools necessary to lead himself.
Being well-led, he then concerns himself with providing these tools to others, that they may also lead themselves.

Leadership is necessary to men.
Their minds and bodies require direction, lest they fetch up on reefs and shoals.
The mind makes a poor leader. The body, no leader at all.

What is this quality, then, that provides good leadership to men?
The same one that guides the stars and planets through the heavens.
The natural order of things.

Heeding the natural order requires only the ability to recognize it.
To recognize anything, that thing must be perceived.
Being perceived, it may then be observed.
Being observed, it may then become a guide.
Thus guided, men may avoid straying away from the natural order.

What is this order, and why is it natural?
It has always existed, and will always exist.
Men had no hand in this, thus it may be trusted.

Man did not create the environment that sustains him.
Yet he is sustained by it.
Man may make use of it, but may not understand, or control it.
The good leader becomes part of what sustains him.

By not going against the natural order, man becomes the natural order.
Who can defy the cosmos?
Eternal, infinite, undying, limitless. Man is all these things.
The good leader reminds men of this, then stands down.

The good leader men seek, is nowhere to be found.
Not because he does not exist, but because men are unable to recognize him.
They seek someone who is able to defy the natural order.
They choose the one most likely to succeed.

The good leader is easily found.
When a man is able to know himself.
How does a man know himself?
By not gazing outward at the stars and the planets, but instead, knowing he is whatever he observes.

    This whole “equality” and “politics” thing is a substitute for knowing who we are as individuals.

    People want the external symbolism of individualism, and a series of actions that the TV shows them are “individualistic,” but not what is really required to be a differentiated individual, which is to know who you are, what you value and what you’ll die for.

    Most people won’t die for anything.

    They will buy any information-product that tells them that it’s good, noble and benevolent to not know who you are and instead to think solely in terms of the external, like “am I equal?”

    The fear suppurating through the West at this point makes me sad and angry. We need a nation of heroes. Heroes make everything better and make everyone feel better about being alive. A lack of heroes makes everyone bitter and destructive and power-hungry, like has happened now.

    1. Individualism is shown only through individual acts, not group acts, but if an individual is doing the same thing while alone that he would be doing in a group, isn’t it simply the same thing? This defenition of individuality is absurd.

        That also applies to individuals. We aren’t individual at all. We are parts of something bigger, like a culture or a tribe.

    short, forceful, simple and to the point, just like a leader!
    eventually you just have to smash the petty narcissistic “individual” opinions, with reason and forceful talk. make them cringe in their shoes, all this pish-posh about equality doesnt really matter to those that are aware of death and “becoming”.

      An interesting picture, don’t you think?
      One assumes there is a leader, in any given flight of geese.
      But is there?
      Is the nosecone of an aircraft the leader of the machine?
      Or just the aerodynamic shape of the whole?
      Perhaps the flight of geese is a whole flight of geese, and any single goose might be the one in front. The first goose is simply the leading edge of the organism, on its way to wherever it is going.
      Perhaps the ideal leader is not a leader, at all, but simply one that reliably performs his function, in a greater whole.
      We may be desiring something that really doesn’t exist, and can not exist. Are we failing to see that the leader, is, in fact, the whole?

        I thought that geese traded off the leadership role every few miles. I remember reading that once, and several times I’ve seen leaders change while the geeses are flying in their characteristic V-pattern.

          When the lead goose gets tired, he rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point.
          => It pays to take turns doing hard jobs, with people or with flying geese.

    Some thoughts on being in charge.

    1) Master yourself first. Your subordinates will smell the stink of your fear if you fail in this process.

    2) A leader builds bridges. Not between people, but rather between current situations and better situations. The leader gets to be leader by figuring out how to get people what they want or need.

      Sometimes people don’t know what they want or need.

      Or worse, don’t want was is needed.

      Does a leader succumb to the populace, become an out-cast, or bend people to his will?

      Inspiration only goes so far, and if the population is corrupted beyond help, not even the purist of angels can save them.

      Sometimes the most unpopular ideas are the most beneficial. Who wants to be unpopular?

      Often in this the climate, the leaders, are grown from the populace. While pandering their own needs and the needs of their affiliates, they submit to the core virtues laid before them. They act as mirrors and reflect the society’s values in which they’re birthed.

      Man has the art of saving himself from truth.

        Truth is unpleasant sometimes, and we want uniformly pleasant sensations. Even if that makes them meaningless and unpleasant. Hedonize, or be a traitor, comrade!
