Science tells us that our noticing of correlations is pure mysticism, but occasionally it ends up walking that back and admitting that weird coincidences occur as if they were part of a wider pattern:
Global viral outbreak dynamics exhibit statistically robust, multi-scale synchronization with Galactic Cosmic Ray (GCRs) variability. While GCRs are unlikely to act as direct causal agents, they may function as environmental timing cues or permissive triggers that modulate viral emergence or ecological susceptibility windows. Incorporation of heliophysical indicators as contextual environmental risk modifiers may enhance early-warning systems and global outbreak preparedness when integrated with conventional epidemiological surveillance frameworks.
Galatic Cosmic Rays — did you take a bong hit when you typed that, hopefully with 15% Virginia tobacco? — somehow influence viral outbreaks… next you will tell me that the afterlife exists. It’s ludicrous.
But on the other hand, it makes perfect sense. Life is not linear like human thinking. Patterns exist and when they cycle, everything falls under the influence of that cycle, so that there is no separation between the pattern and its effects. Cause and effect; there is a larger order.
It entirely makes sense in this view that when celestial bodies are in motion, things will change here, mainly because the change in celestial bodies reflects a wider change in the cycle and pattern of reality. They are effect, not cause.
This however lessens the human sense of being In Control. As individualists, we want to believe that we make choices and the world responds like some kind of a servant, but in reality we are corks bobbing in the currents of an ocean we will never understand.
