Spiteful Mutants: Inbreeding Among Gazans

In the largest of pictures, humanity is probably suffering under genetic degradation brought on by our organized societies eliminating the methods of natural selection. Not only are we overpopulated, but world average IQ is dropping, and there seem to be a lot of people with persistent mental health issues.

Humanist systems like democracy shield people against the consequences of their actions instead of allowing them to perish or at least die childless if they have high mutation load from gene drift, the naturally-occurring mutations that happen in any population and are tested against natural selection for beneficial mutations.

Without that test of natural selection, genetic randomness builds up, and soon we have people who are “missing pieces” of what is required for a healthy brain and body. Eventually the insanity becomes normalized and behavior decays as competence falls.

In the work of Edward Dutton we can see the way “spiteful mutants” turn on those who do not have deleterious mutations out of resentment:

Every zombie movie has a terrifying underlying message. The enemy isn’t supernatural or a monster from outer space. “The enemy is…us!” The “undead” — mutated humans, grotesque versions of their previous selves — are destroying everything in their path, bringing about the downfall of civilization itself. Worst of all, they are contagious, forcing the few survivors left to join the hoard.

In Spiteful Mutants, Edward Dutton argues that we are experiencing a “zombie apocalypse” of our own. The critical threat to civilization is not so much enemies abroad as it is nihilistic and self-destructive tendencies within our own populations. Dutton examines the most salient social phenomena through a Darwinian lens: from BLM to QAnon; from those seeking sexual transformation to the “Incels” who don’t have sex at all; from atheists to those with a religious zeal for “social justice.” All these phenomena can best be understood as genetic results of the Industrial Revolution.

Human evolution is an ongoing process. The question of who we, as a species, will become is a matter of who is being selected for in a particular ecology. Before industrialization, child mortality was the crucible of evolution: those who were physically and mentally sick — that is, who possessed high levels of genetic mutation — rarely survived into adulthood. The Industrial Revolution, and resultant medical advances, brought about the collapse of child mortality, allowing the explosive growth of people who are highly mutated in body and mind, and who would not have otherwise survived. These mutants, walking among us, are “spiteful” in the sense that they actively affect the functioning of the group. They generate polarization and chaos, depravity and dysphoria, and even the gradual collapse of fertility. A new specter is haunting the industrialized world, the specter of Spiteful Mutants, a menace of our own making.

If only we could see an example in action. We somewhat can through the extreme that Palestinians represent because, through consanguinous (family member) marriage, they have accumulated recessive traits that act like a wave of mutations:

Despite the fact that this type of marriages is discouraged by the major religions, recent studies estimated the prevalence of consanguineous marriages among the Palestinian Arab and Israeli Arab population to 44.3% and 25.9%, respectively, representing some of the highest rates in the world [2,3,4,5]. This high inbreeding rate leads to a high prevalence of autosomal recessive disorders. In first cousin relations, the risk of significant birth defects is increased up to 2.5 times as compared with the general population [3].

We see an arc here. Civilizations arise and become competent, which allows many more to survive, and then mutations accumulate and the spiteful mutants take over and turn that society into a third-world ruin. Unfortunately for us, these mutants hide behind symbolism like ideology and religion so are not recognized for what they are in time.
