The safety cult that has taken over most of the West is really a cult of punishment for those who do not need to be micromanaged. Take for example the ubiquitous horror that is the speed bump.

In the name of safety, specifically slowing down passing cars, businesses erect raised concrete barriers across lanes, forcing people to slow down in parking lots, or rip their suspension out. This satisfies the “but what if” people who fear doom at every turn.

What these really do is penalize the innocent in the name of managing the guilty. Everyone must slow down over these suspension-wrecking humps, and everyone gets annoyed and hates the damn things but we cannot criticize them or some nagging nanny will come out spouting about “safety.”

Instead of these, we need a simple rule: remove the people who are doing dangerous things. If their analytical judgment is so bad that they race cars through parking lots, they should not be driving cars.

Stupid safety measures like speed bumps make the experience worse for everyone, and much as businesses pass on taxes to consumers, the misery gets spread to others. People get grouchy and drive twice as fast in the areas without speed bumps.

We have to ask, how many people actually sped through the parking lot? It was a miniscule number, but out of raw fear, businesses put down these horrors. This gets nods of approval from those who resent life and want revenge on those who are enjoying life.

They do this because they want the external world to regulate their mental state. Instead of working toward their own joy, they gnash their teeth at the joy of others, and find a way to sabotage it. These people will never build a working civilization on their own. Deport.

What they are doing is “socializing negatives,” or passing the cost of bad behavior by a few onto the many. This is backward, since what you want to do is simply remove the badly-behaved and reward the well-behaved for not having to be babysat.

Like socialism, which transfers wealth from the thriving to the flailing, this transfers the burden of compliance from the criminal to the normal. It eats up a society from within, as if your stomach decided to devour the rest of you.

Under equality policies, we must always treat everyone identically (unless they are a victim, in which case they get more). That logic says that everyone must slow down because some are criminals, and in the process, it makes society as a whole more criminal.
