Why Boomers are doomers: They refuse to investigate their own failures; they refuse to teach their own children not to repeat those failures and then they rebel against their own (adult) children overriding them or their ideas of what normalcy entails.
The reason AI is not used to develop this argument is because AI cannot do longitudinal studies, therefore, as an X-generation proponent, this argument is based on personal experiences and exposures to life, including from grandparents down to grandchildren.
After WW2 the Greatest Generation raised their boomer babies in a free world where they could do anything and be anything. The reason was that the Greatest Generation established a functional Government, a productive private sector, and safe education. In other words, they told their children: “Don’t worry, we shall look after you, back you up in any conflict and we will make your bed, make your food and clean your room, just so that you don’t have to work too hard, like we had to.”
The result was under-development of Baby Boomer egos which led to mechanistic thinking, resulting in the destruction of creativity at societal level. Unfortunately, not having developed egos caused baby boomers to become narcissists because their parents said they will be safe, meaning they perpetuated that feeling of safeness at the older age as their children became independent, individualistic, and threatening adults.
To reconcile the above experiential arguments into more coherently and perhaps academic terms was a little difficult because although teenage rebelliousness was included in psychology, the older age parent rebelliousness was not, rather, it was included under the discipline of gerontology and “Family Therapy.”
However, academic psychology also refers to a “transgenerational cycle” which is simply put by saying: “When you are 15 years old, you will rebel against your father, but when you are 50 years old, your father will rebel against you.” This mechanism is described as the “transmission of vulnerable narcissism” through psychological control and enmeshment. Therefore, when a parent stunts a teenager’s ego development, that child frequently grows up to enforce strict, narcissistic compliance on their own adult children.
Going a little deeper into how this would work, as follows:
In summary, it can be stated that the greatest generation’s overparenting leads to stunted ego-development (failed individuation) in the boomer child, causing vulnerable narcissism over time in the growing adult, resulting in narcissistic demands on the next generation adult X-generation children/employees.
So, why are they crooks? Part of maintaining control is to keep a handle on finances. You may have noticed that boomers retire in Florida while their own children barely have a pension fund. You may have noticed that wealth is extracted upwards leaving the middleclass in a bind. You may have noticed that fatalities are increasing not so much because of car or aeroplane crashes, but because of suicides, of which military and police personnel is a significant part. The jobs where loyalty and honour are proclaimed have become a fertile ground for manipulation and control to the extent that suicide is the only way out.
Boomers have it rich, but they destroyed Western society’s ability to manage conflict, they destroyed creativity, they destroyed organizational productivity, human functionality, and they established organizational means to encourage suicides on a massive scale – yes, because, you know, there are too many people on earth. Fuck them.
