Since many of our readers missed the black metal experience, it may be informative if we present some material from the past, such as this mashup of a LaVey saying by Finnish black metal band Beherit:
Satan represents man as just the another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those who walk on all fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development” has become the vicious animal of all…HEIL SATAN
Satanism — since it is Christian-derived — tends to try to invert the inverted, namely that Christian pretense of “divine spiritual and intellectual development” through moral good instead of natural good, which is power including violence and natural selection.
The philosophy of the ancient Europids does not map onto the Christian world. Like the Greco-Roman and Nordic epics of old, it praises strength, not moralism. Its morality is that of asserting a right order, not safety from consequences for individuals.
In the modern time, we call it “pagan” because it is a nature-religion, not a symbolic and social religion. It is based on the tempestuous power of nature, which is inherently “evil” because it is unconcerned with puny humans.
To us now, the pagan era is a mystery, mainly because we process it through the idea of religions where (like at jobs, school) you memorize a book and recite it in novel forms of familiar situations. We project Christianity on the old faiths, even if we are atheists!
As modernity winds down, people are looking for a new form of the eternal naturalistic and transcendental faith that respects animals, does good to the good and bad to the bad, and strives for strength, power, wisdom, and clarity.
