Don’t Go Off The Rails

In this life, you are going to face cruel and vicious enemies. They are that way because they are desperate. People who are succeeding rarely attempt seizure of what others have; they simply make their own. If they cannot, they become twisted and parasitic.

These enemies will always begin with a passive-aggressive strategy. They will play the victim while trying to provoke you, and if you strike out, they will then motivate a large crowd of the miscellanous neurotics and life-failure to attack you.

Does that describe the Left? Perfectly. No sane person wants or needs “equality.” They want fairness: to be treated as who they are, in the situation they are, toward the best outcome possible for them. They accept the limitations of life and externally-imposed justice.

Translating this, “evil” (a proxy for insanity, stupidity, criminality, promiscuity, and retardation) will always present itself visually and ideologically as “good.” People misunderstand good as means-over-ends, when really it is ends-over-means: good results in the longterm if not eternal.

Conservatism, that which attempts to create order in parallel between the natural and divine, recognizes that “good” and “evil” are misleading; we need to strive for good results and recognize that everything else is inferior and therefore bad, a more reasonable term than the supernaturalist “evil.”

Conservatism is therefore ends-over-means. We recognize that to make an omelette, you have to break some eggs. To build a great bridge, you are engaging in a dangerous activity; some will die. To have cars, horses, fire, or food requires risk and some will die there too. There is no safety or pacifism.

Some guy shot Charlie Kirk. Time will tell but most likely the profile of the assassin will involve sadness more than anything else, someone feeling out of step with life and seizing on easy ideologies. Maybe his teachers radicalized him, or his friends on Reddit and Discord. First he had to be unstable enough to seek easy answers.

Right now many on the Right are calling for firing those who express sentiments approving of the killing. In my view, this is a mistake: civilization is built on the exchange of free ideas, which is an ends-over-means methodology, since instead of taking any methods off the table, we consider the goal first and use what is appropriate to achieve it.

In addition, consider that if we endorse cancel culture, we are strengthening cancel culture. If anything, cancel culture needs to be canceled, which means that we have to stop firing, unfriending, ostracizing, or debanking people for their political opinions. Whatever those opinions are.

We know that ethnic pluralism and religious pluralism are paths to misery, but pluralism of viewpoints is essential to a healthy society. Cancel culture sought to remove some methods (like strong policing) from consideration, and in doing so, abolished the goal.

When we retaliate against Leftist cancel culture with canceling of our own we are strengthening cancel culture. This makes it permanent. Too much of politics consists of “my team versus their team,” which is a method, and abolishes focus on the goal, which is functional civilization.

Conservatives win elections by making the trains run on time. We are the party of order. This occurs at a level above the individual in which we accept that tragedies are natural and we cannot save everyone. Instead of trying to fight the possibility that someone might die, we focus on the goal that benefits all by producing a higher-quality civilization.

Order requires open and free thought and expression. It also requires mono-ethnicism, but that is a half-step beyond what most people can consider, still. But first and foremost, we need to avoid making the mistakes of the Left and instead focus on the long-term goal of civilization.

Right now the Left is using this sad event as a justification for demanding that we give up our guns so that we have no way of defending ourselves against crazy Leftists. That, too, is means-over-ends; remove the means (guns) instead of focusing on the ends (stability, sanity, health, wisdom, beauty).

Likely the time will come when we have to beat them down and kill some of them, but let us try the gentler methods first. Charlie Kirk lived and died by the proposition that we could find answers through logical thought instead of emotional outbursts. Let us honor him by carrying on that tradition not embracing censorship.

Our temptation in any time of disorder is to become disordered ourselves and to give in to emotional expression acted out on others. If we use violence, it must be surgical, not a tantrum or for internet points. Let us not make the mistakes of the Left, and instead focus on logical thought as a means to the end of our sanity.
