They want to have some external force guide them, instead of having to decide for themselves what future they want. Nietzsche used the term “aggressive” to mean someone who could conceptualize the good and then act diligently and forcefully to make it incarnate. We have very few such people today, instead lots of round heads gathered around the television nodding enthusiastically at the latest false hope and booing the latest scapegoat.
