  Nevertheless, the big point here is that the FBI was suppressing information and explaining away explosive residue found in the wreckage from the start, which means that no one will ever trust anything the government says about this case. The missile theory originally centered on a US Navy Aegis boat, since one of those shot down an Iranian airliner (shades of MH17, likely another case of military radars not identifying civilian transponders), but later modulated into the idea that a jihadi with a MANPAD on a passenger boat shot down the plane. The motivation for a coverup in both cases is evident, especially if the missile was a Stinger the US gifted to Afghan mujahideen the previous decade.
