In response or a question of clarity for the following: Each time I see someone bungling a simple task — driving, home care, a logical argument — I realize that somewhere out there is a society where they haven’t made bungling politically correct, and they will eventually dominate us. Because they play by Darwin’s rules, even if our secular superstition has made Darwin taboo.

Are we in agreement here that those with creative minds and abilities, those who really have the answers and could help, but don't fit into the system are the ones who are left out in the cold? The other day (in China) a railroad bar was crossing the sidewalk and people were simply pushing it up and letting it bounce back down to hit the next unaware guy coming from behind. As the bar lifted I grabbed the end and looked around for how it was suppose to be secured. Found it and secured the bar safely in it's place high above all heads so as not to fall again! I am a 47 year old housewife am I so seemingly unfit for any good paying job!? Or would such a solution have to go through multiple meetings and discussions and paperwork before they could find the solution and decide who should do the task and how it should be done properly?

I like the idea of "Your dysfunction gives them problems which they gain power by fixing." That is again a powerful truism of our age, the more inequality that is evident, well then, the more statist intrusion must be necessary! Since we are all products of our special environments -- not the products of dysfunctional genes that are spreading like a plague due to the "you can fog a mirror" welfare state -- more help must be forthcoming from the good folks who fund this nation!

Get ready (you solid middle class citizens) for new chances to contribute to this project of rewarding the Worst People by taking from the Best People! Yeaaa Robin Hood! Many more chances to contribute to the Destruction of Your Progeny (a nifty next-generation suicide not visited on you personally) are coming (!), I am as certain of this as I am that a bear does not wear a funny hat.

If you are watching Jerry Springer at 11 am in your bathrobe, cannot weigh yourself on a standard scale, and you have several soiled-diaper offspring sprawled listlessly over Salvation Army furniture, you are winning the sweepstakes of life in the end-stages of American Democracy! Thank god for the free lunches and bus transportation (with hydraulic lifts for the weight-challenged and alternatively-abled) on Election Day! We all deserve the same representation, obviously, thank goodness for the Progressive Guardians of Our Culture.

And who is to blame for the coming extinction of good people? Good people themselves, of course. Those who look past the obvious dysfunctionality & criminality of their neighbors (we are all neighbors in the Big Sharing State, whether in East St Louis or Bethesda or Bangor or Birmingham). Unfortunately more and more of our "neighbors" are living off fewer and fewer of us head-scratching, navel-gazing, must-be-frickin-retarded Americans.

The Federal Government has yet to figure out the distinction between the still-tiny group of "deserving poor" and the exponentially-expanding "Worst Leaches Ever Allowed to Leach" group of bottom-feeding future Rioters who will indeed kill off us few remaining Americans within at most a handful of generations.

To have even a remote chance at a comeback, traditional Americans may want to consider other ways of organizing themselves and may wish to review their generosity to the very grandparents-to-be of the yet-born criminals who will indeed finish off the genetic legacies of those long-ago, self-sufficent folks who actually created a once-great nation.

But the social awkwardness of such thoughts! Even if True, let's just put our heads down for propriety's sake! It's just more comfortable that way.

The End. Of You and Your Way of Life. So dearly-acquired and so cheaply given up.

'Mr. Stevens does not define competent. Is it the one who gets laws passed that funnel money to themselves? Is it the most clever criminal who simply does not get caught? Is it the psychopath who gets elected to office?'

Perhaps it's the one with the wisdom to not become controlled by any of these things.

Since the author uses the Engish language well, I will assume massive ignorance rather than stupidity. We, with all of our welfare and charity, are the biggest meanest tribe on the block (Our GDP is larger than the next 5 or so nations combined, our navy is larger than the rest of the worlds combined) precisely because we practice charity and some social welfare.
The last time you had, in our culture, a distribution of wealth concentrated in such a small number of people, you also had an economic collapse.

Any study of complex ecologies clearly shows that the tribe is stronger if some individuals are wired to sacrifice for the benefit of the group.

There are actually tribes that reflect Mr. Stevens view of the world. They are small groups surviving in isolation in the Amazonian Jungle, and are comprised of men who kill each other often using treachery.

This is no surprise, since competence is defined as and by the one who is not dead.

Darwinian biological evolution is quite different from the type of social Darwinism you are advocating. There is NO evidence that the workings and laws of biological evolution would lend themselves to society. In fact, the opposite is true. When we see those who work together and, as you say, help out the less competent generally the group as a whole benefits. Evolution works at different levels as well. It is not simply single organisms that contribute to the evolutionary story of a species, but whole populations.

I like the party idea. For me, though, some of the party lines of the Darwin Party are a bit harsh. To form a good and true culture, family members and smaller communities take care of their impoverished - only if it's through no fault of their own of course. A child is born retarded and the parents have the sympathy for their child that they want to raise him rather than suffocate him or institutionalize him? OK, the child may be an outcast in that community but if the parents choose to use their own resources to keep that child alive...well then what happens when that chlid gets to adulthood? Ah...well, even in our "democracy", states don't fund people with autism or mental retardation well at all, since these people have no advocates once they've reached adulthood. They're the first ones to receive funding cuts, etc. while pensions for firefighters and police officers skyrocket. So what do we do with them? I think it's a bit over the top to slaughter them once the parents are dead...we may not want them breeding, but I feel communities should take care of their own to a degree; a strong community can find room for a little sympathy of their own blood/tribe. Just keep the government out of it and don't have rules and regulations surrounding it, and smaller tribes can sort out what they'd do - and parents would then make decisions regarding where they live, etc. based on the different sets of values that different tribes/towns adhere to.
