The very term freedom is in fact an almost meaningless term. It has become so vague and irrelevant that it is only used as a rhetorical device that makes the people who dont want to have to think to hard rally behind some cause.

Nobody cares until all of a sudden your fighting for "freedom" or fighting those who want to "take away your freedom". Never mind the fact that freedom is vaguely defined contradictory and utterly irrelevant to the situation. It is simply a tool by skilled people to manipulate the masses and gather votes.

Freedom is a useless and contradictory term just like rights. Unless you define freedom from something or freedom to do something then the term is useless. Also it seems rather obvious to me that people simply sprinkle words like freedom and rights into their sentences or polemics in order to make their position sound "American" or good somehow as if simply copy pasting words into your speech or writings actually means they are true or belong there.

I only ever roll my eyes when i hear people talking about freedom or rights as it tends to be empty rhetoric and is only used to manipulate the stupid unthinking herd like masses.

I think what makes this worse is that big business supports it, knowing or unknowing, of the results: a bunch of retards who it can sell its half-assed products to.

Freedoms are lost by those that abuse them. In other words, freedom does not mean you can do whatever the **** you want. When people start thinking that is the case, freedom then becomes lost. Either through social deterioration, environmental degradation or other system level failings. Freedom is a responsibility and part of that responsibility is to do the right things. But people don't want to put in the effort to do the right things, which of course is why you hear the cries of impingement upon my/our freedoms. The right things just are not convenient enough or take too much effort. Or lets be real honest, most people are just too stupid or full of self-hate (or false, unjustified arrogance) to care.
