Rachels was saying that, for example, if a Neanderthal turned up out of the blue (from being preseved in a frozen lake, or somesuch) she should be treated by us in a way commensurate with her behaviour. Why, in such an instance, would we try to theorise about how Neanderthals as a species should be placed within our human culture. Why not just treat this individual neanderthal as an individual, rather the as a neanderthal per se.

Yeah, sorta. But we ARE our nature. To say &quot;you are controlled by your nature&quot; is, in a way, to say &quot;you are controlled by you&quot;.</description>
