Perhaps it's more overly liberal diversity that's destructive to real diversity.

Sobi, I think your first sentence spells it out nicely. Brett is advocating parallelism, or the idea that smaller autonomous communities can and should exist within a larger whole. They should be self sufficient which would reduce most of the overpopulation, silly economic, and multicultural issues we have in society today. Heavily centralized government always, always falls in on itself eventually, and the Founders of the US noted this in the Constitution. They just left a bit too much room for government to again centralize, and with 350million people under their umbrella, they can only do so much before the gov't spreads itself too thin and collapses. We are seeing this happen now.

Are you are proposing multiple, smaller autonomous municipalities like the instead of a single, global consensus based "government?"

That reminds me of both the ENZL and this one group of island dwellers who lived before the modern era. I forgot the exact region that they existed in, but after a generation of young men and women had reached adulthood they would be sent off in canoes in search of another island. They would then settle, raise another generation of men and women and send them off in search of the next island.
